You are talking individual trading days, try starting with the amount of new lows here that have been caused by algo selling into the spread or close
I assure you if you or I crossed the 4c spread earlier to price it to 52c on similar volume you would likely get dragged across the coals
Anyway, the cure for these grubs is solid Valero and Walmart numbers to bring about buying interest, which hopefully are forthcoming and soon
