Alexium Appoints Senior Manager of Corporate Communications

Dear Shareholders,

I am very pleased to announce that Melissa Kelly has joined the Alexium team as Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, responsible for leading communications, investor relations and marketing. She brings over two decades of experience in communications, marketing and investor relations to the position, having held progressively responsible positions in the corporate and governmental sectors.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University Maryland, Melissa began her career as a Presidential campaign staff member and transitioned into a role as a Congressional research analyst and liaison for the Department of Defense. She subsequently joined Citibank as a marketing manager and Provident Bankshares (NASDAQ: PBKS), at the time the largest independent bank in Maryland. At Provident, she worked in consumer and commercial marketing and communications, eventually becoming Senior Vice President / Director of Investor Relations. For the past seven years, Melissa has worked as an independent consultant and taught business courses at the university level.

As we continue to grow and strengthen our investment in our innovative products and in Alexium’s worldwide presence, a consistent and unified strategy for communicating with our diverse set of stakeholders will be essential.
