Nice to have a discussion with a young person on this forum.

I'm not yet retired, although I could be, and I will be self-funded when I do. For the present I work and pay tax, and are happy for some of my taxes to help people like your parents enjoy some comfort and security in their retirement.

While I share your belief in the benefits of capitalism, I think it needs to be tempered with compassion and support for those who do not enjoy all the fruits of our economic system.
