Exactlly - it is illegal. Yet throughout the two days of chaos, we had clued up commentators on these threads commenting on EXACTLY this manipulation of the sp, and we know they could see it clearly, as they helped the rest of us recognise it, via reporting it in detail here on HC.

I wonder if ASIC uses this as evidence? Either way, whether they do, or not, it needs to be investigated by ASIC.
It could well be that overseas manipulators have woken up to the fact that they will get caught out on the US and UK markets doing these tricks - but ASIC is SO weak, they will remain unaffected.

How much money would they have made? I have no idea but even a 2 cent movement in the sp, on say, 100 million shares, is going to net them a shipload of money.......at the expense of retail investors, who had stop loss levels triggered.

All my personal opinion of course. Feel free to disagree.
