How true that is as it goes along with what I repeated here a few times, as in "Face reality as it is, not as it was or as you wish it to be."
It is similar with Elliott Wave Theory, get to know and understand at least its basic rules and refrain from relying on indicators that may misguide you when dealing with wave counts and before attempting to catch out others. In this case I would suggest to do some research on possible wave extensions (first wave extension).
BTW, in EWT it nowhere states that wave 3 has to be the longest wave! Someone else alerted you to this before, however you dismissed it out of hand - remember?
