Agree about "sifting through the garbage" and "hot air" - which was the intent of my post.

Off topic but of interest Edwards and Magee published a book - but neither were traders nor chartists, in fact one was a baker (or butcher ?) who helped the other finish a glossary of chart patterns started by his father.. another example of history being embellished by social media.

The important aspect which you've mentioned though is that sensible pattern analysis has been hi-jacked by those that "need to see a pattern". Preferably one that agrees with their prior convictions. They will rarely mention volume and bar/market behaviour as a confirming action (it usually doesn't exist).
