In TradingView a new weekly candle/bar begins every Monday or the first trading day following the Monday. So over Christmas and Easter the weekly bar may only contain 3 or 4 days worth of price and volume action. Monthly bars begin on the 1st of every month or the first trading day of the month. Same in 24 hour markets like crypto, however you can adjust the time zone so the opening and closing price of the bar will vary when comparing a daily or weekly bar using different time zones. Don't know how other platforms work.
