With the benefit of hindsight you can demonstrate that to yourself. Just pick a daily chart of a stock you know or are researching. Mark the announcements already made and check if there was an unexplained run up or drop before the announcement and what happened after the announcements. If you find certain correlations like increase in volume and SP action you might be on to something. Quite some time back I did do this on the LTR chart and it worked out quite remarkable. However without mentioning names/stocks, it does come down to management, however the term leaking boat comes from that phenomenon.
