As for the house, it's a pretty good investment long term. There's lots of ways you can make it more affordable E.g. rent out rooms. Interest rates are still low as well. There's never going to be any new land so it's one thing you know has to increase in value over time. Also the equity can come in pretty handy when you find something like BIG.
Not to go one but my wife just got offered a job in Abu Dhabi which means that's where we will be moving to from next year. I'll just rent my house out and it takes care of itself so to speak.
