absolutely agree Ava. My wife and I (finally) managed to buy a house last weekend, it took 2 years to find the right place...(what I say, we are fussy...)

I rocked up to the auction wearing my usual attire....an old t-shirt, a beanie, sunnies, jeans and an old pair of converse.

Did the usual afterwards and posted pictures to social media...a mate of mine commented afterwards - wow, I bet they all thought 'these guys don't have a chance, look at what he's wearing...no way they can afford this'.

Well, as you say - never judge a book by its cover - the house cost us almost $1.3m, but we will have a mortgage of less than $300k.

Just because I dress the way I do, just because I don't want to spend $1000 on a suit, does not mean I can't afford things. I earn almost $200k a year in my day job, we have around $200k in cash between us, a house with minimal mortgage, plus investments. We are doing alright ; )
