yes the post 70s recession was a blast for my income too. yet it was early 90s before my pay broke $1000/wk net.
we didn't have a lot of the expenses that are so necessary today. we didn't give a damn about firewood smoke, and jobs were quick to change with higher pay every time. 'born in the land of plenty' was my f-in-laws words. but plenty there was. new opportunities in learning as well (thanks Gough) and health care costs way down. child care was expensive though when my wife wanted to return to work.
yes this class antagonism from the right is just ludicrous. if this is what you meant in your envy post? politics of envy seems to be a defence by the right for enabling the widening of the wealth gap..... exactly what Morrison tax cuts would have done. but truly I think the defence is wrong. its simply a rhetorical device.
