Bought my first house three decades ago at age 24. Paid it off in seven years and then moved. Became totally debt free at 35, then started investing in shares. Rich to me is having everything I want and need and still having free time to follow my hobbies, dreams and passions. I only work two days a week now and my life is pretty inexpensive. Me and my wife’s annual spend is about $50K a year including two very nice domestic holidays. Through investing and with compulsory super, we have managed to accumulate about $1.5 million in retirement savings. We are both fit, healthy and still more than a decade away from retirement age. My view of rich has changed dramatically and I wouldn’t swap my life to earn big money. Considering we both left school at 16 and have never earned big money, we are rich beyond are wildest dreams.
