Appears to be NOT hardware based ie no substantial infrastructure spending required.
I posted this ealier on another thread that might be worth having a look through.
If this new technology can deliver wireless internet at ADSL prices to mobile devices anywhere in Australia, then it has the potential to be a company maker for EFT
** Been making a few enquiries & the general opinion is that with Danny Ehrenfeld now taking a hands on position, growth though sales ie organic growth, will replace growth by aquisition.
It is generally agreed that the roll-out to 90% of the population of their wireless network will be achieved via a new technology (for which they have an exclusive right to in Australia & S/E/Asia) that piggybacks onto the existing mobile carrier network. If you think ADSL using the existing copper wire infrastructure to give a whole new product, then this "new technology" that EFT has picked up is directly comparable.
Given that it would use existing infrastructure, it is entirely feasible that the "roll-out" could be completed by December.
The word is that they are being coy with technical details until they are ready to lauch the service in order to keep competitors in the dark for as long as possible and maintain their first mover advantage. **
