This quote from the current DERM release is going to be interesting imo ...

Mr Bradley said the latest samples were also tested for metals such as arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and nickel, which occur naturally in groundwaters.

"The concentrations from bores on private properties are consistent with background results measured against samples analysed prior to the pilot trial burn of Cougar Energy in March 2010," he said.

    Interesting because ...

    a) Already DERM are saying heavy metals appear consistent with background levels prior to the burn.

    b) Heavy metals levels have absolutely nothing to do with Cougar.

    c) What will DERM tell land owners who have any naturally occuring (or farm chemicals related?) heavy metals exceedences?

    d) If c) above occurs, will DERM instruct landholders to shut down their private bores?

Talk about karma if this eventuates lol.
