Hi wooduk
Like all statistics these figures only tell a small part of the story
Obviously some of those retired prior to the O.A. pension kicking in do so because they are unable to get work or have sufficient money not to work.
Likewise some of those still working above the pension point age do so because they want to work or can't afford to stop
I was in a golf club which due to location was mainly composed of "retired" business people or senior execs.
Most of them would have preferred to continue to work in some fashion ie not 60 hours a week as they previously did but a shorter week.
They all had one reason for not doing so the government just made it too hard and uneconomic
So all those skilled people are lost, their investment money is also lost, they don't employ any people.
Small business and hard working do-ers are a dirty word in government circles.
The bureaucrats do not understand what constitutes business, regardless of which side of the fence they are on and I suppose that a lot of this comes down to that 3 year cycle they are just not interested in building the country just their own pay packets.
