Nourish and bloom video was positive. It's admirable they're trying to solve the issue of food deserts although the issue is far more complex than simply dumping an autonomous store in the area. Nonetheless that's not why we're here. Throwing out such a huge number of stores as a target should mean the first is going well. If our tech is performing as it should with Lidar then sales will roll in as other potential clients will see the value of it working.

Its scary trying new things as a business, much more comfortable seeing someone else try it first and see it being successful. This could (I believe will) eventually result in a wave of change in the industry. I think it may not be too far down the track where the days of the big conveyer belt checkout are over. That brings me to Aus. Woolies spruiks frictionless shopping as being about scanning everything in the app and coles couldn't give a toss apparently.

I personally don't think scanning everything urself in the app is enough, a fun novelty sure and it may cut out the line to self serve during busy times. This alone I believe will claw market share from coles and its that competition for better customer experience that will drive frictionless shopping. Coles will have to get on board at some point and if any of the majors go with a system that doesn't have you scanning 50 items with your phone it will blow the current woolies system out of the water.

Getting way ahead of myself with all this talk I know, the bottom line is we need these small (at the moment) first trials to go well so we become one of the default choices for facilities upgrades. It sounds like so far they are.
