They're definitely useful for getting exposure for the stock though. You'll find that companies will often send these analyst reports to all their key institutional and sophisticated investor contacts.
They're not supposed to predict the future though, they're just there to provide some general information on the company and if the analyst is any good at analysing, perhaps a few unique insights.
