LIEUTENANT General Cirilito Sobejana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, has expressed support to the planned oil exploration project in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm).

Sobejana’s statement came after the Energy World Group, a leading energy company, on Friday, August 16, discussed with military and Barmm officials its proposal to launch a natural oil exploration project in the autonomous region.

“The military is ready to support any joint venture, co-production, and sharing agreements that comply with the legal requirements and that redound to the benefits of the Bangsamoro people,” Sobejana said.

“We are for peace and development in the Bangsamoro region, and we remain committed to support any development initiatives in the operational area,” he added.

The Energy World Group, an energy industry focused on delivering clear energy throughout Asia, proposed its intention to enter into an agreement for the natural oil exploration in the Barmm region.

The project is seen to create more employment opportunities for residents and former terrorists here in Mindanao.

The Energy World Group said the exploration will be made in Sulu to ameliorate the province’s economic condition.

The Energy World Corporation, Ltd. has taken the lead in the race to build an integrated liquefied natural gas facility in the Philippines.
