Clearvue is coming in to it's own not only because of the power it produces but also the efficiency of electrical systems and motors.

My brother is a sparky and he scratches his head at how we wire houses nowadays. A basic house has two types of cables. 2.5mm to run 10-15 amp of things you plug in to a wall socket and 1.5mm cables for lighting which covers up to 10 amps.

In the old days you'd have incandescent globes, rooms filled with dichroic downlights, high power globes for external illumination etc. If you put 20 50w globes on a lighting circuit at 240v you're drawing 4amps so you need that heavy 1.5mm cable

Then came compact fluorescent and now led. You've replaced those 20 X 50w globes with 5w globes. And in doing to you've also put in a whole heap of transformers that step down the voltage from 240v to 12-14v. Those globes on 240v draw 0.4 amps.

So why are we running 240v cables through our ceilings only to have all the lights step down the voltage and draw next to no power? Why not run 14v cables? So much cheaper and so much safer and perfectly adequate for houses.

What does this have to do with CPV? Nothing much. Except that you do need to acknowledge that CPV glass producing 40w/m2 is ten times more useful today due to efficiency of lighting and small electrical motors than it would have been twenty years ago.
