To get a good idea of how wrong the early seismic interpretation was its worth looking at slide 10 in the AGM presentation that compares SNE pre-drill to now. They initially had a large prospect on the western edge of the shelf which was the carbonate play that was dry. SNE as mapped then turned out to just be the gas cap. Nearly all of these prpospects were mapped in the 100m water depth or deeper. Post-discovery and now post appraisal the oil field has spread all the way east to the edge of the Sangomar Deep block where water depths are 500m and SNE andother prospects are shown pushing past the edge of the block.
This supports your idea that the buried hills may just be the gas caps and the oil legs for many prospects (including perhaps Bellatrix) lie down-dip (in terms of strata not water depth) to the east.
