If it was a true democracy people who don't want to vote wouldn't have to like America.

It would at least get rid of the monkey vote bias

It would also give politicians an idea how disconnected they have become from various electorates.

This might be the reason for some of the apathy in the country. We can hardly even protest the vote by not turning up without a fine.
