I think it's fine. The new release that came out some time ago I agree was a mess, however the main difference between then and now is that that release had major design issues along with the obvious functionality failures. This site however is both simple enough while still offering more advanced functionality that it's worth developing further.
Sure not everyone will be happy, however that was always going to be the case regardless of how good the new site is. But imo it's more than good enough that with fine tuning in the future it will be better than the old HC.
