Simmer for at least 5 minutes:
2 or 3 cans rinsed white beans.
And ‘½ dozen’ of the following:
¾ cup pulled pork.
¾ cup diced fried pancetta.
¾ cup fried scrimps.
¾ cup reasonably concentrated chicken or veal stock.
½ dozen rashes of bacon.
¾ cup seafood soup.
½ cup white wine.
1 or 2 tablespoons tomato paste.
1 to 3 knobs of plain garlic or herb butter.
A couple of sprigs of fresh herbs.
A teabag of herbs.
A couple of splashes of light soy sauce.
A couple of splashes of liquid smoke.
A couple of cloves of smashed garlic.
