These poor people are in the best hands, but they are fighting for life and many may not make it. Their injuries would be horrific. With both external and internal (respiratory tract and lung) injuries caused by superheated water and CO2, SO2 and H2S gases as well as projectile rock and ash particles, it is a miracle there are any survivors IMO.
