"Ideally, skin for the grafts would come from an unburned portion of the patient's own body. Where burns are extensive, however, this may not be possible.
An alternative is using artificial skin grown from a culture in a laboratory.
Australian company PolyNovo has confirmed it provided extra stocks of lab-grown skin to hospitals receiving patients in both Australia and New Zealand."
