    0420 GMT [Dow Jones] Newcrest's (NCM.AU) institutional placement upsized to A$750 million from A$500 million originally planned due to strong demand, according to person familiar with the situation. Placement price remains A$27.00. Newcrest declines comment. "Given that gold is trading at around A$1,450 and looks to be headed higher, it's probably a reasonable bet," says an institutional trader. NCM remains in trading halt. Last A$31.00. (DWR)
