Yes, the source seems legit and I am confident the AFR would never report something as devasting to someone's reputation, unless it was true. However, the question remains, why no criminal record? From my limited knowlege of crimininal law, conviction of a summary offence resulting in jail time automatically triggers a criminal record.
Would a judge have the discretion to order the non- recording of a criminal record in theses circumstances. Any lawyers out there?
