I find that happens often these days. Might be part of algorithm trading to encourage you to chase the price higher so your not left with an uneconomic parcel of only 1 share? Another way they make it harder for the individual investor who has to pay brokerage on the small parcel if uncomplete, but the algo can buy 1 share at a time all day if they wish.
