Dunno Dave, Newman's passion still appeals to a lot of people...no doubt Kate Jones and Labor will give him a run being Kate is married to one Paul Cronin (former chief media adviser to Queensland Premiers Anna Bligh and Peter Beattie.)

I agree to an extent...one would ask why would Newman go now when the polls suggest LNP support has waned over the past few months...

...but could it be that the memories of the average voter are short they may forget the disastrous and costly Beattie and Bligh years? By getting people to the polls sooner he could capitalise more on recent memory of the waste.

And, being Labor appear to have no policies at all to show, and certainly no plans to pay back the debt, they will be caught with nothing to offer the electorate?

As the LNP are more than likely have their advertising campaign ready to go they can get a good start before Labor and the unions can begin the lies campaign?

Also I guess many folk having just come back from holidays will be in a better mood...schools won't be back so the teacher's union will have little time to muster their troops and brainwash, as well as many public servants still being on hols could work well for Campbell...

As much as Newman isn't on my Christmas Card list, I'd like to see him retain his seat and lead for another three years...
