I think DEG should primarily concentrate on building its first Huge Mine before building its Most Awesome Gold Empire.
It can easily spiral out of budget control with lawyers (are honest lawyers at a premium or discount?), consultants ("I hear OV's good" -- haha), good mining people (geos to mining engineers), skill-set holes needing filling (poaching, retirement) and booze (just because). When/if adversity strikes DEG it's best not to be spread too thin.
