2239 GMT - Gold explorer Antipa Minerals catches Shaw & Partners eye as a potential target for M&A. The company was an early mover into the Paterson region of Western Australia and it has attracted Rio Tinto, Newmont and IGO as partners on assets. Newmont owns 8.6% of Antipa's stock as a result of its takeover of Newcrest, while IGO has a 3.6% equity interest, according to an investor presentation by Antipa in November. "We view ongoing growth in the Minyari Dome Project Resource, or exploration success from the company's farm-ins, as catalysts for corporate activity," Shaw says in a note. Minyari is some 35 kilometers from Newmont's Telfer operation, adds Shaw, which has a buy call on Antipa's stock.
