You might be jumping to conclusions a bit there . While it is true that there have been Li-I battery fires , it's a bit of a stretch to compare these two examples .
The initial investigation has discovered that the charger used for the hoverboard is possibly not up to Australian standard and could have overcharged the batteries thus causing a fire . Think we better wait for the whole story before we completely bag the Powerwall or any of the other domestic systems that are actually on the market now .
In the meantime you'd better get rid of any of the cordless devices in your house if you're so worried . Power tools , laptops , phones etc . All using Li-I batteries .
As far as having dangerous substances inside your house remember that you have piped gas and electricity there already . And a tank(s) of petrol in your attached garage . All pretty volatile and dangerous commodities if they are not used correctly .
