It seems likely that a feldspar circuit will be added to the project design but a more robust evaluation of the incremental costs, waste management costs avoided and market for doing this is required. Atlantic could have done this but contracting the local university to do the study is a sensible approach. It improves Atlantic's engagement with the Ghana economy and probably gets the study done at a competitive price point relative to consultant companies while its likely to be of a similar quality anyway to what the consultant company using grads would deliver.
If the local university reaches the view that its not economic but would be beneficial for the local economy then that's an excellent position from which to engage the government on how to make adjustments to the pricing settings/royalities etc so as to enable it to become profitable and therefore progress.
