I think you're misunderstanding geographical boundaries here. Zeroth is in HK, which attracts Asian talent - which generally (and uncommon) to go to the US for Y-combinator. You're right about track record and in my post I claim they will (probably) not have the fraction of the success.

I just think there's an over-reaction from folks on here about a $1.5 million investment. You're completely right how money raised should go to growing revenues directly in the short-term - however that doesn't mean a minority portion shouldn't go into investments.
