Today’s AFR article hits the nail on the head as to why Energy Australia, AGL, Origin has the wind at their backs. Once Origin is bought, AGL is shaping up as the only way to play for the massive industry funds. IMO, you need to be there before them!

“If you want to be a big renewables developer and make big money from Australia’s energy transition, the easiest and safest way to do it is by also owning a big customer base.

A big customer base brings a natural hedge in otherwise volatile electricity markets, and an ability to pass on price increases to end users.

It makes it easier to get funding to build wind and solar farms and other renewable energy generators and storage projects, and reduces the reliance on third-party corporate buyers and other retail energy providers to write long offtake contracts.”
