You still fail to answer the question, they make great 100% profits, by not producing a thing, great, who, in the end pays for it? Does the money come from generous donor or will it be extracted from the average person?
I am still sticking to the original premise, Loy Yang A will not close by 2035.
Interesting that in "the surplus" energy period over the last 3 days 1GW has been generated by GAS. Flexible, can ramp up and down quickly, what's the go there?
We need a base load energy source, end of story, not an artificial one. I hope it is renewables, but we haven't found on yet. When we have consistent base load capable generation then we can effectively use storages of all sorts to cover the peaks and troughs.
Putting batteries and PHS as the cheapest form of energy is plainly wrong. THEY DO NOT PRODUCE one joule of energy; they only consume it. How can something be the cheapest form of energy supply when they don't produce anything!!!!! Any export during the generation phase would have to consider the original supply so it can't possibly be cheaper, unless a market system is manipulated. Another reason why the NEM is a broken system.
At present, as stated, if the snowy scheme is used it will be pumped back up by, you guessed, fossil fuel base load. Note that all the countries you mention still have some form of base load energy, nuclear, gas (when Putin gets his, it will be back), coal or receive energy from countries that do
