What nobody seems to realise (and I’m all for renewables so don’t get me wrong) is that renewable energy is in fashion now, and it’s being relied upon for the future without even having been tested and tried. Just look at Texas now, having an electricity outage because their wind turbines froze. I’m sure that renewables are all good and so on, but the obstacles ahead, that are now unknown, are many(!), before we reach a point where we don’t need any sort of coal, gas, etc anymore.
