My post seems to have set off an issue from which you have already received sound advice. Nothing on HC is related to financial advice and I absolutely am not qualified or interested in giving anyone FA.
However I will say that its not about any sum of money. $9K is a lot of money. What you chose to do with that $9K may set you on a path to success. My general comments were more about stage of life than buckets full of money. Some posters may be close to retirement and any windfall may just provide that buffer whereby they can quit a laborious job or retire. Conversely as above, a young person with $9K maybe on a path to riches.
