As others wrote, people have short memory.

These RC's are great at providing a megaphone to amplify whingers and allow people to promote themselves. Press don't have time to analyse the stuff that comes up, so a lot of drivel is sensationalised, even though there is no prospect of proving malpractice or extracting damages. Doesn't stop the legal fraternity having a crack as its good PR.

People very keen to remember the upside potential and overlook the downside going in.

I think you should be glad you didn't.

Very few people don't need some insurance at some time in their life, usually when starting family etc, but it is up to the purchaser to cancel it once the kids have left school. You cannot expect the person who sold it to you to call you up 20y later.

People should be grateful for the persistence of the AMP or other insurance rep in bringing to their attention the need and helping them choose what suits them.
