Does anyone have some concrete info on what this EU classification actually means for domestic lithium operations? Like classifying lithium chemicals as toxic doesn't seem particularly concerning to me? That does not equate to a ban on production. From what I have seen this merely means that the lithium chemicals would need to be handled and stored appropriately - like anything else. There are plenty of far more toxic substances produced in europe in vast quantities.
No doubt some fossil fuel funded research spearheaded this move, and injected sudden urgency into this reclassification of something which has been used for decades as an oral medication.
Last time I checked coal and crude oil were also fairly bad for fertility if you decide to eat them, and drinking LPG also not advisable.
Much ado about nothing I think.
