Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Surely Austal has done the numbers and sees it as worth it. Also Lincoln Electric is looking like direct competition in the US. I don’t know much about them but I saw a Navy contract go out to them for a big propulsion part. Probably something AML needs a domestic facility to get contracted for herself. Lincoln Electric’s tech looks like WAAM but it’s not very explicit.
On a side note why is the US patent taking so long, we got Australia, Japan, India and I think the EU but no US patent yet.
