What a waste of time (and money) by APA. Below $8.88, the offer for AST is not even $2.60 and there is inherent risk due to the scrip component - by APA's own admission the $2.60 is an "indicative value". And its apparently not a consistent offer to all shareholders.
Is the Takeover Panel really going to step in when the difference in the offer price is so marginal and they are not apples for apples offers?
*Maybe* at $2.60 cash, APA would have a case. They should save their legal fees and up the offer ...
