apt is a marketing/ big data company so long as it dominates the space. but go to bare basics, this is BNPL service that lets consumers pay in instalments. in short, retail finance.
if someone else offers a better rate, you take it. consumers are not "loyal" to the brand of afterpay. I think consumers stick with what they know, and will abandon switching due to costs and time.
it takes no cost or time to switch BNPL providers. while many may stick with APT because it's what they know. a bad experice, such as late payment fees could force the user to switch to a provider who won't give them that bad experience.
afterpay have dressed themselves up as cutting edge tech company way too early. for instance apple are in the entertainment business with streaming platforms and producing movies, but they did this only after they won the war with IBM. apt don't have full control of their core space
