Spot on DalyWaters. So based on the latest information I can gather, seems like the objective for AQZ (Alliance Aviation Services) or Bonza Airways, has always been to sell out to Qantas. You've got to give it to them, its a great idea, build a dangerous competitor and then sell it to the one-eyed monster. I guess they offered these cheap flights, probably at a loss, knowing all the while the big money was to be made from Qantas, not their customers. Not so good for the consumer and clearly upsetting all the shareholders.
Between you and me, at this stage, as a share holder (like it or not) I think we need this deal to go through. I was into AQZ as a medium term investment, but if this merger does go through and the share price recovers, I am out.
If it doesn't go through, I doubt Bonza will around for much longer to be honest and all will be lost.
In our favour, we know that the ACCC is a toothless tiger and are easily seen off. If Qantas really want Bonza, they know who to look after in the ACCC to get what they want. Hopefully they do, we can all sell our shares and move on.
