Qantas disappointed at regulator delaying Alliance Aviation deal verdict
What a debacle.
To put this into context, this has been over 4 years in the making:
01/02/2019 Qantas acquires 19.9% holding in Alliance. Board received no approach from Qantas at that time.
01/08/2019 ACCC raises concerns
20/06/2020 ACCC investigation continues
05/04/2022 ACCC not to take enforcement action in relation to 19.9% acquisition of Alliance
05/05/2022 Alliance enters a scheme implementation deed with Qantas
18/08/2022 ACCC raises preliminary competition concerns
28/10/2022 By way of a statement from Qantas we discover the ACCC has delayed its final decision for a third time.
20/03/2023 ?????
Unfortunately Alliance is at the behest of the ACCC whether it be Charter Alliance agreements or any other partership arrangements it wishes to persue. This is Regulation. In the meantime shareholder value has diminished 26%.
