What is most disappointing it the leadership of AQZ giving up on everything they have built up.
Are they tired of the effort? Or is there a poisoned chalice in the business that is destined to deflare it soon?
AQZ have been the best run airline in Australia by some margin. The journey has been great. Who knows where it could have gone. Thinking out loud, we could have got some decent money for the company if Singapore Airlines or Air New Zealand decided they wanted an Australian domestic airline. The E190s would be a great starting fleet.
Instead, if the ACCC alllows it, Alliance will become another Impulse. Stopped in their tracks before they got big enough to be a challenge to Qantas and branding gone quickly.
The next question will be what attitude will Lee Schofield and Scott McMillan carry through with AQZ if the ACCC knocks back the takeover, as they should.
