QAN's finances are in a very poor state, despite the hype coming from its CEO and PR machine.
It's still losing money. At least 10 per cent of corporate (business) passengers, historically the highest yielding, are instead using video communications like Zoom instead of expensive flights, accommodation and meals.
International flights are by and large far from full. Look at a route like SYD to Bangkok where QAN used to fly daily: presently only four per week each way.
The London routes from SYD and Melbourne are using 236 seat Boeing 787-900s whereas pre-COVID-19, Airbus A380-800s with slightly more than twice the number of seats were used daily.
SH ought consider rejecting this deal as there is some chance, in time, of QAN having to enter into administration or be bought out by the Federal Government. Not that you'll hear this from most business commentators!
