Thanks for the charts, very revealing.
In relation to your comments about "how they actually managed to physically satisfy that surge in demand, given all the horror stories we heard about supply chain problems across large swathes of the economy", I also wonder about this.
And one of the conclusions I have come to is that the quality of the management and their ability to either plan ahead for the unexpected (eg Breville) or simply get the job in procuring stock one way or another (eg Nick Scali) - is a key factor.
At the other end of the spectrum we have managers (not all, but many) who are content explaining a decline in sales due to shortage of stock / logistical issues. A small company I once owned, Azure Healthcare, comes to mind in this category.
