Hi guys, here is the latest news from the South Burnett Times dated 20th August 2010. Note the change in tone of the report since Len's announcement last week.

DERM TO REVIEW COUGAR REPORT, DECIDE FATE

The fate of underground coal gasification (UCG) in the south Burnett remains uncertain.

After its UCG pilot plant was shut down last month, on Monday Cougar Energy lodged its Environmental Audit report in resposne to the Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) Environmental Evaluation notice from July 17.

The audit responds to questions about the groundwater conditions at the site, monitoring bore test results from upper aquifers located within a two kiloimetre radius of the site and the impact of a break inside a well. The independent Scientific Expert Panel will help DERM review the report and then the department will decide the future of the plant.

The company has also requested the Australian Securities Exchange extend its voluntary trading suspension.
