No eco invite for Denniston announcement

Environmental groups are expecting the worst when Minister Nick Smith makes an announcement on the Denniston Plateau today.
It is expected he ill allow Australian mining company Bathurst Resources access to the conservation land.
West Coast Environment Network spokesperson Lynley Hargreaves says environmental groups haven't even been invited to the announcement.
She says legislation which means there must be consultation for significant mining proposals on conservation land doesn't come into effect until tomorrow.
"This is the last day possible that he could make this decision without consulting the New Zealand public.
"And it's pretty clear that that's because the Government knows what the public thinks of mining
